One day, The Lion king of the forest felt that he was getting old and had to pass down the throne to the new leader. So he appointed the tiger as the election observer and commissioner. He was given the job to oversee all the electoral transparency and executive activities. Now, the jungle had different types of animals, but the majority of the population consisted of foxes. The foxes were very clever in their activities and only cared about themselves. But they faced a genuine problem.
The bears. The bears were really active, and they always supported the fact that everyone must work together to survive in the jungle. Now, Tiger went out one day to collect the electoral candidates' list, and after wandering the whole forest, only 2 names came forward. Mike the Fox and Griz the bear. The whole jungle was called to gather to let them know about what the people got the options to choose from. Now, on the day of the polling day, The Lion King thought, maybe my new predecessor will be as just and kind as me, as Tiger wont betray me through corruption and dishonesty. But, to his surprise, Mike the fox won the election in a landslide margin. It was a bit shocking to see, because although they were the majority, the other animals voted too. But what went wrong?
It was hate, Hatred towards Griz. Griz was a guy who always told people that hard work is the key and that the only planned future can lead to a bright future. And Mike, being more clever than any others, said that he would ensure food for all, and no one would have to fight for their own existence. And he provoked others that he is the only capable person to “protect” the jungle as the lion king did before. But he never explained how he would do, and given the fact that Mike was already selfish and self-centred, it was clear that something was wrong.
But nobody doubted. Because it was clear that mike will win because he was from the majoritarian party, but the ballot didn’t reflect its entirety because other animals (Except bear) felt like Mike was showing them the dream life that they could only imagine. So they chose Mike over Griz.
The Lion King was really disappointed, not with the tiger, as he was
the executive officer, but with himself. He let the dumbest of people choose their fate over a selective measure.
That jungle is not far away; you can see that jungle every
year in different areas around the world. In different times and in a different
name. But they are all about that failed attempt to select the Finest Leader.
