Why You Should Understand Politics

Let’s face it, you might like math, or arts, or anything in between. But Don’t like Politics, its grumpy and endless fight between a bunch of old people. And if you are from 3rd world country where Law and Order never work out properly, it’s almost impossible for you to admire the beauty of politics. But I am going to tell you the reasons you should understand politics. (Stay till the end to know how to understand it).

Reality of Politics and its necessity:

Most people think that avoiding politics will keep them safe, and they don’t need to worry about anything. But the harsh truth is, your future is inscribed between the policies that are taken in terms of the political agenda and impulse. So, avoiding it simply means your opinion and voice are being ignored to shape your own future.

The range of influence of politics really is immense; you can’t define it exclusively. How you would live in your own state will also be defined by the state, which is run by a government. Market, Education, Social Welfare, and everything. Every thing need policy to be executed precisely, and those policies are made by political parties and their member. Your voice comes into action as the political members need your support to come to power, so your demands will be their priority.

Scenario of Direct Impact of Political Opinion:

Let’s give you a clear example. Let’s say a leftist Liberal party came into power. Which means their belief is enshrined in Social Welfare and Economic Intervention. Which means, the free market won’t exist in actuality. The government will run its own factories to produce commodities to serve its people and create jobs. Economic intervention may include high taxation of rich people and systematic revenue generation for Social Welfare activities.

But, your state is clearly facing a major issue, as the government works with a huge amount of public assets and wealth, and that political party turned out to be a corrupt party that dominated the state with oppression and corruption, so you chose a Center-Right party to lead the government. Their ideology states that Reforms must be done for social justice, but the state won’t interfere too much in terms of public wealth.  Inclusivity in terms of public opinion is accepted heavily, and people get what they truly demand. That’s politics.

Here, your voice matters. You must know how to express your demand. If you feel like Theological democracy (Religion-Based Politics) will implement more ethics and more values, you should vote for right-wing theological parties, not the secular leftist party. It's about how you express your demand.

Harsh Reality of 3rd World Countries:

Unfortunately, countries like Bangladesh are stuck in a loop of bloodshed where people must shed blood to achieve their basic rights. It's because we couldn’t have ever utilized our political rights and knowledge properly. Many of our voters don’t even know what they are subscribing to when they vote for.

Some civilians do read the manifesto (The List of Promises that will be fulfilled if the party comes to power), but they fail to understand the feasibility, needs, and utility. That’s why they get themselves trapped inside a shallow quicksand where unnecessary promises are fulfilled to glorify their success, but civilian lives are not getting any better.

That is why we need to truly “Understand” politics, so that we can take a rational decision in terms of supporting and building our own future.

How to learn and understand Politics:

As I promised, here is 3 ways you can learn and understand politics.

1.     Discourse:

There is nothing called wrong opinion in politics; your opinion might differ, but you must talk and discuss. So that people might be aware of their superpower! And if you are a newbie, then make friends, listen to different discourses, and study a few of the old theories of politics that interest you.

2.     Timeline Analysis:

Sometimes, you will end up in a situation where it will feel like a jigsaw puzzle to you. You will feel that maybe the whole story is following a sequence. If you feel like it, go for it. Analyze what happened at that time. Remember, Politics is just a way of making decisions. And Decisions are based on incentive, so if you can crack the pattern of incentive, you can crack the whole system!

3.     Be brave:

Don’t be afraid to express your opinion. Remember, those who are intelligent and rational will always welcome your opinion with criticism, constructively!

There you have it, the ultimate guide to start your journey in this superpower, where you can make yourself heard and be your own Future maker. Remember, if you can’t avoid it, bend it!
